Limestone cliffs and hidden coves
São Rafael's coastline is defined by eroded limestone — arches, pillars and small caves cut into gold-white cliffs above a sheltered beach. It's one of the more photographed stretches of the central Algarve, and one of the quieter ones to actually live on.
Properties here sit above the cliff line rather than on it, most within a few hundred metres of the beach path.
